Smart casual is likely the correct answer. It is our favorite DC restaurant. Great cheese plate.
We are open Christmas Eve but not Christmas Day!
Yes, use OpenTable
Went for breakfast and had the Belgian waffle. It was delicious. Comes with more than strawberries (raspberries and blue berries).
MoreOverall, it was a fantastic dinner. I would dine here every time I'm in DC! Their escargot appetizer was divine. The flavors were incredible and I can still taste it now, two days later as I'm typing this review. I got their scallop entree and I NEVER eat scallop. I just had a gut feeling it would be amazing, and my gut was RIGHT! My boyfriend got the duck entree, which was just as good! LOVED IT!
MoreHad the eggs benedict, exactly what I expected, but not exciting. Meal was a bit pricey for the selections and portions, but that is Washington D.C.
MoreFood can be hit or miss; I've had two hits and one miss. Salads are light and fresh; fish is expertly prepared and thankfully not overcooked. Desserts are decent. Service is pleasant. On the pricier side — the tab often outweighs the experience.
MoreThis place was just average at best. The pairings was not on par and the food was just ok. Needed better basic seasonings.
MoreThe food is good, but I was left feeling that I could do better for the price. Seemed a bit dated.
MoreEscape the gritty city into this impeccable restaurant. Bar in front, quiet restaurant behind provides an evening respite from a harried day. The service is mature and professional, never rushed. Meals are beautifully plated, echoing the elegant, but not overstated decor. The menu changes often enough to avoid boredom, but not so good free you cannot repeat an excellent meal.
MoreWe love hanging out. Last night we arrived in this magnificent place which friends recommended to us. We spent a lovely time there with superb cooking and an experienced stuff and an impressive chef. We added this fine restaurant in our phone list and we will surely come back soon. We deeply recommend.
MoreFood and atmosphere are 5-stars, service is 4. It appears they trained their staff in fine dining but didn't focus on the smaller details. The bus-person was loud with the dishes and the server seemed to be trying hard but missing the mark. She forgot what she already told us when approaching the table a second time. Food is spot-on though!
MoreAn excellent gastronomic adventure across the board - appetizers that delight, entrees with a chef spin a good wine list by the glass, and desserts oh my. Our waiter was a real pro.
MoreI had lunch. The crabcakes were awesome, the asparagus was delicious and the mac n cheese was different, but a nice change of pace from regular old mac & cheese. It's expensive, (no selections for children).
MoreGreat service, classic breakfast options
Would absolutely recommend trying out this place. Fantastic mood, yummy dishes, awesome service. Great work.
MoreVery good service, and great food. Crab cakes were delicious and so was the creme brûlée. Tables are awkwardly close to each other.
MoreA beautiful place and the food was good, but unfortunately the service was one of the worst I have ever experienced in an upscale restaurant.Addendum: We went a second time and the experience with our waitress from Latvia couldn't have been better. I will assume that our first experience there was a glitch!
MoreOnly had breakfast there, but it was very good. Service was on top of it.
Came to Bistro Bis for Sunday brunch. It was a perfect experience! No wait, quick service, and great food. The chef is clearly skilled at his trade--pork cooked just right, eggs perfectly poached, frites crispy but not dry, and bearnaise sauce robust yet not overpowering. The atmosphere was warm and inviting--and so were the staff. It is easy to see why this restaurant has garnered so many local awards and accolades. This is upscale French dining at its best.
MoreI wanted to love this place. Great location and upon entry the ambiance was good -- if a bit loud to my taste. Call me old-fashioned, but when a restaurant week dish is described as having remoulade sauce, then a bland tartar sauce won't do. Service was very slow. My French onion soup was more warm than hot. The constant bar noise -- empty bottles tossed in the trash repeatedly -- was a real mood killer. My tablemates were even less impressed than I have was. But I have to say that when no fewer than five employees cut in front of me when was being seated? The manners of the staff should have been my clue that this wasn't going to end well. At least my crabcake was good, even if it took almost an hour to get it.
MoreThe food is always well prepared. The staff it's always polite, professional, service is always excellent. They greet you when you come in and going out. They aim to please
MoreThe food was very good! The crab cake was a good appetizer, the Salmon entree was very good and the Profiterole à la Frambroise lemon mascarpone dessert was great! My friend ordered the scallops and they were perfect!
MoreThe food was fantastic. The poulet was so tender and moist. The service was impeccable.
MoreVery popular among the Cepitol crowd not only because its refine look and decoration, but also for its French inspired menu. Great place to meet for a descreet, comfortable meeting, but not recommended for dinner, especially if you are hungry and are expecting substantial amounts of food
MoreGorgeous experience. Food is delicious, vibe is great. Went here before going to Capitol, there is also a parking near the restaurant.
MoreWe came here for restaurant week expecting a really impressive eating experience, and while the food was fine, it wasn’t something out of the ordinary. The French onion soup was bomb. But the French toast and bis bistro biscuit were mediocre. Likewise the sorbet and creme brûlée were both very tasty, but not enough to come back and pay full price for.
MoreFantastic menu and exemplary service. Exposed our 6 year old to her first fine dining experience here and they catered to her taste without stooping to being declasse. Dessert was phenomenal!
MoreOutstanding... as always. Fabulous food, extraordinary service and an exceptional wine selection
MoreGood food but price point is a little high for the portion size. Got the best salad with salmon and my friends got the shrimp salad. Both were tasty and came quickly. Solid spot for lunch but wouldn't go back because you can get just as good a salad for half the price a block away.
MoreI reserved a table through open table as a surprise dinner to celebrate becoming engaged. All expectations were exceeded! We had a wonderful dinner. Food, atmosphere, and service were great! Thank you for helping to make an already special occasion, even more special!
MoreThis place is good! Affordable rates, large dishes and the staff are consistently very nice.
MoreThe food was good but I think overrated and expensive for what it was. Based on the reviews I was expecting phenomenal food but I got basically good food and fine dining prices. The extra star is for the service which was great.
MoreExcellent food, service and beautiful venue.
The french onion and squash soups were superb.
Love this place, this was the best place we ate in DC hands down, def recommend this gem. Service was impeccable food was even better, this place is awesome. Drinks were delish, calimari and bisque were that fire! I'm picky about these foods and they were perfect.
MoreGreat atmosphere. Steak frites always good...but burger at lunch is the best!
Food was good. Beer was very pricey.
Excellent food!! Tried the surf and turf which was great!
Service is impeccable; food is stellar! The mussels were outstanding, and one of the best mussel dishes I've had. The steak frites is excellent; NY steak was perfectly cooked to medium rare, as requested. Truly a memorable meal!
MoreI didn't have any knowledge of this place when I made a reservation for my mom's birthday. We had a wonderful waiter and impeccable service. Everyone really enjoyed their meals and they brought a beautiful dessert for my mom. I would probably give them five stars if the price for my vegetarian meal was not as much as it was. I found it a bit crazy to pay what I did for a plate of vegetables that were fine but nothing much more than roasted veggies.
MoreREALLY good food, classy environment, a little pricey.
Absolutely top dining experience. Food was incredible and the staff were extremely helpful. I would highly recommend dining here.
MoreWonderful service, delicious breakfast and they cooked my steak to perfection. Great place to pop in and get a healthy meal before jumping on the train.
MorePlace good..service slow..food w good taste!
Great place for an expensive meal and drinks. I hear that senators have lunch here, but for everyone else, this is probably very much a 'special occasion' kind of place. My dinner was great - the French onion soup was thick and oozing (quite literally) with flavor. The Beef Short Rib Bourguignon was small, but filling, flavorful and well-presented. I'd warn you about the skin and flabby pieces on the bottom, but that's what makes it so aromatic and adds juices to the mix. Otherwise the meat was pure delight and falling apart at a touch of a fork. Perhaps I wish there were more mashed potatoes on the plate, but they leveled it off with excellent trumpet mushrooms and thick, crunchy and crispy bacon lardon, pearl onions, and pommes mousseline, so I have no beef with the chef at all.Oh, and you can't leave without trying at least one bite of the most delicious Opera Cake, but you won't be able to stop at one...I guarantee it!
MoreAppetizers are the best! We ordered beef tartare and escargot, which are good looking and tasteful. The entree is too much for me.. I can only eat one third of it.. Such an american style! It seems like a newly decorated place and the sofa is comfortable.
MoreMore pseudo French. Attached to George hotel and near the Union station. Favourite watering hole of Congress and people from the hill. Blue and Red can be seen eating together. Good Cream Brule. Has tables and boothes and a bar where you can have a drink while waiting for a table. Service is variable. Can be very good. Usual French menu. More neuaveux cusine than traditional.
MoreVery clean , nice atmosphere, food is delicious & filling , waiters & waitresses are very polite & professional, chef is awesome , will definitely recommend this restaurant
MoreI simply enjoy their dishes. I always get awesome service here. The place is well organised and the staff members are always friendly. I highly recommend this place.
MoreCame with two friends and we shared a bunch of food. Appetizers: mussels, salad lyonnaise, french onion soup. Entrees: Salmon, trout, and Steak. Desserts: Creme brulee, chocolate torte, and apple crostada. Everything tasted fine but nothing tasted great. Wouldn't return.
